In addition to our year-round team, we are very lucky to host a number of talented seasonal teachers throughout the year, who join our community for a few months at a time and infuse our studio with a variety of backgrounds and unique teaching styles. Together, we are grateful to have the opportunity to serve the island's loving residents and visitors with the following class offerings:

Ambu Flow

Yoga experience is highly recommended. 60 / 75 min.
Allow your body to unfold as you transition from stillness to movement. Join us as we flow through a series of sun salutations and other variations, stretching and strengthening the body. Let the practice of linking breathe to movement guide you through this multilevel vinyasa flow class. Modifications are offered to allow an extra level of challenge or ease to your practice. This class is great for newer yoga students ready for more, or seasoned yogis with a consistent active practice.  Find your drishti, and expect to build some inner heat.  Then get into the island vibe by rewarding yourself with a calming final savasana.

Ambu Heated Flow

Yoga experience is required. 75 min.
Ambu Flow with heat, offering a more intense workout for those who want to develop increased flexibility and strength. Hot yoga also detoxifies the body, relieves stress, and increases focus. We recommend bringing a Yogitoes or mat-sized towel. Yogitoes towels are also available for sale in the boutique. Heated Ambu Flow classes are 90-95°F. Bring a reusable water bottle to drink.

Ambu Basic Flow

All levels are welcome. 60 min.
A more fundamental version of our classic Ambu Flow exploring the basics of various postures and body alignment. Students will be guided through a series of yoga poses, coordinating movement with breath. This class is great for beginner students who are fairly active and practice some level of regular movement. This is also a good fit for students who enjoy a slower flow with the support of props and variations.

 

Rise and Flow

All levels are welcome. 60 min.
For our early rising yogis, we have created a special morning class. Join us for a lighter version of our regular Ambu Flow. Non-heated and comfortable for all levels.

 

Gentle Yoga

All levels welcome, recommended for beginners. 75 min.
Experience ease with soft movement, deep stretches and breathing. This class offers a series of lying, seated, and standing poses to help explore range of motion, flexibility and relaxation. This is a gentle physical and meditative practice, and a great way to complement other activities like tennis, golf, running, or biking.

 

Yin Restore

All levels welcome, recommended for beginners. 75 min.
Find greater flexibility, focus, and calm. The yin practice releases muscle and connective tissue tension by holding fewer poses for longer periods of time. This class also includes restorative poses with the support of blankets, and/or bolsters, and other props. Improve your mental clarity, and relaxation through a very cooling and deeply restful experience.  Most of this class will be lying or seated. 

Stretch and Restore

All levels are welcome. 75 min.
This class begins with easy, stretchy movements to warm up the body.  We then enter a series of passive and restorative poses designed to reduce stress and anxiety, and relieve pain. Props will also be incorporated to help facilitate a deeper relaxation.  Breathe, decompress and let go in this calming, blissful experience.

BEACH YOGA

CONNECT WITH NATURE, GET YOUR FEET SANDY, AND STRETCH YOUR BODY AND MIND.

 

BEACH YOGA

All levels welcome/ recommended for beginners. 60 min.
Enjoy a gentle seaside vinyasa flow with magnificent views. 

This is an all-levels class. Well-behaved children and young adults are welcome to join our beach yoga classes.

Beach yoga classes are practiced on beach towels, which are not provided. Please bring your own towel to practice on, as well as some water. (If you are buying a one time Drop In for this class, choose $29 Drop In).

Please NO sign ups on the beach. Register for beach yoga at least 24 hours in advance, either by visiting Ambu Yoga Studio or online.

Beach yoga classes meet at Alison Hagerup Beach Park (labeled "South Beach" on South Seas resort maps, click here for directions).

This class is “rain or shine”. If there is inclement weather, class will be held at our studio.

We also encourage students to consider spending a few minutes to help clean up the beach before or after class. Bring your own bag or container and help us take care of our island home.


STAND UP PADDLEBOARD (SUP) YOGA

CHALLENGE YOUR BALANCE, FIND ADVENTURE, AND get experience captiva in a whole new way. 

SUP Yoga ADVENTURES

***We are currently organizing an SUP Yoga Adventure Trip Sunday, August 4th, 2019 at 8:15AM. Contact us for pricing, and details.***

SUP Yoga Adventures are by reservation only. Please email, call or text us for information and pricing. Trips normally last approximately 2.5 hours and require a minimum number of participants.

Designed to take you out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary, our SUP Yoga Adventures provides a unique up-close and personal experience with Captiva’s natural surroundings. Paddle through the local mangrove-lined waters to a secluded spot to practice SUP Yoga. It’s very common to encounter wildlife like manatees, dolphins, osprey and more along the way. This class includes basic paddling instructions and is suitable for beginners. Schedule varies, contact us for more information. 

Wear sunscreen and a bathing suit, or clothing that will be comfortable for movement that you don't mind getting wet. It’s always possible to fall in the water. But that’s part of the fun!!

 

Please note: Paddleboarding equipment is included for all of our SUP Yoga outings. Please bring sunscreen, a towel, and clothes you can get wet and move in. Meditation

New Moon Meditations

All levels welcome, this is not a movement class.
The new moon symbolizes growth, transformation, and new beginnings, and every month it offers us an opportunity to set intentions for the coming days, while leaving behind what no longer serves us. Join us for our monthly guided meditation under the new moon – as the sun sets, together we will create space to move forward with the projects and aspirations that make us feel alive.

Because it is important to us to care for our island home and the creatures we share it with, we donate all proceeds from our new moon meditations to support the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation's Sea Turtle Research Program. This year, we have a very generous matching donor who has promised to double our impact. That means every dollar you donate will do twice as much good for the turtles.    

Suggested donation $10-15. Please bring a towel or blanket to sit on. Public parking is available. Meet at Alison Hagerup Beach Park, 14790 Captiva Dr., Captiva, FL. This beach is labeled "South Beach" or Location #30 on South Seas resort maps. In case of inclement weather, the meditation will be held in our studio.

If you are unable to attend our New Moon Meditation but still want to support SCCF's Sea Turtle Research Program, we gladly accept donations, and they will all be matched!
